And off to Cape Cod
I preloaded on Redbulls for the drive to the Cape anticipating another hellish day but it was a fairly clear drive. After picking up maps and leaflets at the local tourist office we found our cottage (that’s ridiculous, just call it a bungalow) which was absolutely fine. Clean, spacious and in a quiet cul de sac 5 minutes walk from a small bay with town landing. Helen was relieved to find a huge washing machine and dryer; Harry & I relieved the cable service had NESN and ESPN – I was falling back into the old days of loving the Redsox on TV and Harry was definitely getting hooked. Everyone was relieved we had 25MB of WiFi.
Helen & I took the car to Stop ‘n’ Shop to stock up on supplies and when we returned took a stroll with the boys (“What, we’re not driving?”) to the town harbour to see the locals returning with significant catches on their little boats. It was too late to book a restaurant so we grabbed pizza from Carmines where they noted our English accents (I think we’re the first to have ever visited Chatham). No baseball tonight as it was a rest day – how would Harry & I cope? Answer – Ben & Jerry’s.
