The Duck Tour Experience

Posted by Joe Blacknell

In Boston we did something called a duck tour and before you say ‘ducks aren’t big enough to ride’ let me explain. Obviously you know that ducks live on land and water so what if you made a bus do the same. These boat trucks were made for the war so that a war truck can drive straight into the water. And I’m sure they’re glad they did because they now have hundreds of ducks roaming around Boston and the Charles River.

Our duck tour started with us being introduced to our driver Ray. He was actually quite funny which is good because nobody likes bad jokes! First we did the part on land which was cool because all of the people on the tour got to shout ‘quack!’ at loads of people! When we were driving down by the harbour it got really exciting. We descended the ramp and hoped that metal ducks can still swim. Then…SPLASH!

Before we knew it we were cruising down a river in a bus! It was really relaxing on the water except for the vibrating chug of the engine. Ray was so relaxed he let a few of us drive it…one of them was me! I got to wear his cowboy hat! It was awesome to chug down a famous river in a bus with me at the helm.

That was our duck tour experience!
